With the million of the model of electronic devices, the computer devices are not left. But with time, various technical issues trouble the computer users and make them unhappy, resulting in losing their ability to use the device.
Some common problems are related to the Keyboard as one of the most important parts of a computer. Your computer keyboard may not type letters or any random character. Read this post for more information to help you fix your keyboard, not type letters.
1. Restart Your Computer
If your keyboard isn't typing letters, it's possible that it just needs a reboot. If you're using an external keyboard, unplug it and wait 30 seconds before reconnecting it to your computer. If you're using a built-in keyboard, press the power button on your computer and wait 30 seconds before powering up again.
2. Check for Malware
Malware can cause problems with your keyboard and other devices on your computer. To check for malware, scan your computer with an antivirus program. If you don't have one installed already, download one from a reputable source like Microsoft Security Essentials or AVG AntiVirus Free (both are free).
If you haven't already done so, you may also want to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Run all three programs and allow them time to complete their scans before restarting the computer or continuing with the next step in this guide.
3. Adjust Your Keyboard Settings
If you have trouble typing, make sure that the Keyboard is in the right mode for the program you're using. For example, if you're using an application that requires access to your computer's functions, such as Microsoft Word, make sure the Keyboard is set to All Programs mode.
To do this, follow these steps:

Step 2: Click on Hardware and Sound
Step 3: Click on Keyboard
Step 4: Click on Change how your keyboard works.
Step 5: Uncheck “Turn on key clicks” and “Play a sound when pressing Caps Lock, Num Lock, or Scroll Lock” if checked, and then click OK.
4. Reinstall Your Keyboard Driver
You may encounter this problem also if your keyboard driver is wrong, missing, or corrupted. Try uninstalling the keyboard driver and letting Windows reinstall it automatically.
Step 1: Open Device Manager by pressing Win + R to open a Run dialog box and type devmgmt. msc in there and press Enter.
Step 2: In the Device Manager window, go to the Keyboards section and right-click on the device name where you see Keyboard listed under it. A dropdown menu will appear; choose Uninstall option from it.
Step 3: In another dropdown menu below Uninstall option in step 2 above, select the Scan for hardware changes option as shown below:
Step 4: Wait for a few minutes until Windows finishes scanning for hardware changes on your PC; this process may take some time, depending upon your system specifications. Please wait until it completes its task successfully.
5. Update Your Keyboard Driver
When your Keyboard is not typing letters or numbers, the first thing to try is to update your keyboard driver. You can do this by following these steps:
Step 1: Click on Start and type Device Manager into the search box in the Start menu.
Step 2: Click Device Manager when it appears at the top of the search results list.
Step 3: Click Keyboard under Keyboards & Other Input Devices in Device Manager.
Step 4: Click Update Driver Software… on the right side of the window.
6. Try this Fix if You're Using a USB Keyboard
If you have a USB keyboard, try plugging it into a different port on your computer. If this fixes the issue, you know there was an issue with the port. You can also try using a different USB cable if this doesn't help.
7. Try this Fix if You're Using an External Bluetooth Keyboard
If you're using an external Bluetooth keyboard, try turning off Bluetooth on both your PC and your phone or tablet before attempting to reconnect them again. This should solve any issues occurring due to interference from other devices nearby.
8. Try this Fix if You're Using a Wireless Keyboard
If you're using a wireless keyboard and mouse set, make sure that both are fully charged and that their batteries aren't dead before trying this fix. Ensure the batteries are inserted correctly and that there are no obstructions between them and their respective dongles (the cable that connects them to your computer). If this doesn't solve your problem, try resetting both devices by pressing F12 on your Keyboard as soon as you turn on your computer.
Try to reconnect the Keyboard with your Windows computer.
Here's how you can do it:
Step 1: Disconnect the USB receiver from the computer.
Step 2: Click the Start button in the taskbar of your computer's desktop to select the Power icon. Click Shut down.
Step 3: Disconnect the Keyboard's batteries.
Step 4: Plug the USB receiver into a USB port.
Step 5: Turn on your computer. Click the Ease of Access icon to select the On-screen Keyboard if the password is required.
Step 6: Reinstall the batteries in your Keyboard. (Or, you can purchase new batteries.)
Step 7: Turn on the power switch of your Keyboard.
Step 8: Connect your Keyboard to your computer and wait for it to pair.
The troubleshooting steps listed above will assist in diagnosing and fixing the issue you are experiencing. Remember that the fix may be as simple as restarting your Keyboard or replacing it. The error and its solution may also be completely unrelated to the Keyboard, so don't assume you're out of options if these measures don't work!
